 | central Chinese goral

Plural: central Chinese gorals

Language: English

Description: Gorals are very fast, agile antelope-like goats that make their homes in the rocky, mountainous forests of Asia. These cliff-hangers vary in colour from brownish red to charcoal gray with white throat patches. Both males and females are approximately the same size and possess sharp, piercing horns. Newborn gorals follow their mothers immediately after birth and quickly learn to travel through very steep terrain. Gorals will browse on any available plants in their harsh environment. The cover of mountain forests does not always hide the speedy gorals from hunters. Overhunting has tragically decreased the number of gorals in the past, although current preservation laws are helping to stabilize their wild populations.
