Description: Gram usually means "whole" when referring to pulses. However, gram dhal or flour specifically refers to the fine, pale yellow chickpea flour made from channa dhal, split chickpeas (US: garbanzo beans) (the ones which resemble yellow split lentils). It is used to make pakoras and for binding dishes such as kebabs as well as making excellent batter.
